A Theogeek's View of Creation:
Is God Completely Invisible?

Romans 1:18-20

18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. 19 For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. 20 For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.

What has God shown us? (verse 20) _____________________________________________________

The words "has shown it" comes from one Greek word, φανερός (pronounced fan-er-os')
Here's the definition of phaneros: shining, apparent; publicly, externally

Ancient Views of God:
1. Each culture looked to their gods for help, peace, strength, and wisdom.
2. They praised their gods for natural blessings, such as sunlight and rain.
3. They looked to their gods for victory in wars and guidance in life.

In what ways would these ancient people have seen God in creation?

Modern Scientific Facts Pointing to God:
Evidence #1
1. The universe had a beginning, it is not eternal.
2. Since it had a beginning, it is considered an effect.
3. Since it is an effect, it must have a cause. A very big cause!
Evidence #2
1. There are about 20 conditions for life to exist on a planet - Earth meets every one.
2. The chances that another planet meets these conditions for life is 1/1,000,000,000,000,000 (one-trillionth)

In what ways can we see God in creation?

Why is this important? (verse 18)
